At Black Ridge Vineyards, our philosophy is simple: do whatever it takes to make great wine.

We craft limited production, award-winning, 100% estate grown wines. We intentionally plant vines in excess of our production needs to ensure a sufficient varietal mix without ever having to purchase grapes offsite. You’ll enjoy the inherent, discernible attributes of our vineyard in our rich, floral whites and decadent reds.

The Property

Black Ridge Vineyards is on 80 pristine acres, overlooking the majestic slopes of the Santa Cruz Mountains only three miles outside of downtown Los Gatos. The estate’s elevation and geographic orientation is ideal for protection from the harsh coastal winds and lingering fog to receive a full day of sun. The vineyard microclimate also benefits from the Lexington Reservoir half a mile below. These perfect growing conditions are instrumental in producing high-quality, highly approachable wines.

Very Dark Red Color. A bit shy at first, but upon aeration notes of blackberry, graphite, and anise jump readily out of the glass. On the palate, elements of blackberry and anise continue on and are met by notes of dark cherry and pomegranate. The tannins are well-layered and the texture becomes rich, smooth, and gaining complexity as it finishes in the mouth.

2011 San Andreas Red

Intense aromas of lemon, grapefruit, apple, mandarin orange are tamed by notes of brioche, cinnamon, and ginger. Upon taste, these same qualities flow seamlessly through the palate. While the acidity of this wine gives it a brisk first impression, it opens up nicely with a silky texture and multi-dimensional finish.

2015 Chardonnay

This wine opens up with a brilliant, floral and fruity aroma. Notes of mango, peach, apricot, and vanilla bean jump to the front while floral characters rest in the background. Upon taste, elements of mango and peach are matched by subtle acidity and silky texture.

2014 Viognier

PURCHASE

Beautiful aromas of ripe cherry, cloves, cola, pomegranate, anise, black pepper, and vanilla bean. Upon taste, these characters funnel into dried cherry, cranberry, anise, pomegranate, and cola notes. This wine has amazing texture of refined tannins surrounded by creamy richness.
